This annual event is a favorite for many Smith Club members. We enjoy putting together care packages in shoe boxes and delivering them to our 20 RI Smith students during Reading Period. We stuff the boxes with teas, cocoas, candies, cookies, socks, and other assorted goodies.

Join us at the home of Nancy Davis for this wonderful event. Please bring a shoebox or two, 20 identical items to pack the boxes, and a brunch dish to share. Please RVSP to let Nancy know what you will be bringing for the brunch.

Fun Spirits Tasting Party

We had a wonderful turnout for our Spirits Tasting Party on Saturday, February 3. Club member Naomi Dolin-Aubertin lead Smithies and their guests (we had over a dozen attendees) through a tasting of six French spirits and gave an informative presentation on the distilling process and the provenance of various spirits. We enjoyed a delicious spread of olives, cheeses, nuts, chocolates and charcuterie to complement our beverages. Many thanks to our generous hosts Smithie Kelley Smith and her wife Sam for sharing their lovely and historically interesting home.

Naomi works at Heavenly Spirits, a French spirits importer. You can visit their website at www.heavenlyspirits.com.

Below is a listing of the six spirits in the order in which we tasted them and a listing of local RI retailers which stock them. If your retailer does not carry them, you can ask them to contact the local distributor Wine Wizards and request the items.

Join us to broaden your culinary experience with a spirits tasting lead by Club member Naomi Dolin-Aubertin of Heavenly Spirits, an importer of French spirits. Naomi will lead us through how to evaluate, appreciate and pair spirits with different dishes. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. This event is open to Smith alumnae and their guests.

We are requesting a $5 donation to assist in defraying costs for this event.

 

 

Care Package Potluck Brunch

Join us on Sunday, December 10 from 10 am to noon to create Care Packages for RI Smith students for Reading Period. This year we have 23 students eagerly awaiting their goody boxes.

Please bring a shoebox, 23 items to put in each box (snacks, candy, teas, socks) and a brunch dish to share. RSVP to samina64@gmail.com for address.
